The werewolf’s longing

Bathed in bright lunar light
Lycanthrope by night
Stay by my side and touch
Muzzle to muzzle
Your soft fur on mine
Bathed in bright lunar light

Follow the swirling mist
Run through the forest
And kiss. Touch on my heart
Like frost on the grass
Follow mist by your side

Together howl a song
Never apart, yet
Half-alone in the dark
Feed desire and guard life with life
At cliff edge, together we howl

Dawn light breaks the night
Revert, return and return
Again, to stay by your side
The warmth of fur and feral
Lusts tempered with love so pure
My heart lingers and cries
But dawn breaks the night

I still think this one will work as a song. It's so beautifully rhythmic...and so plaintive. The emotional impact is huge! I love this one.

Wow. Thanks everyone. Heh, I reread after I posted it and it didn't seem so great anymore. Can't even remember what parts of it were supposed to mean. Glad you like it though.

Love the poem

It does definitly give one a sense of longing. I think it's because of how it is written as if we the readers are the other werewolf, which gives a sense of connection...But other than trying to sound smarter than i am :p ...beautiful poem to be read under a beautifull moon :D

Well it was actually written like a werewolf talking to a normal wolf and that's why they were only together at the full moon.

No More Tears (Poem)

No More Tears
By: Rakuen Growlithe

And what of the man who has no more tears to cry?
When every drop has fallen and gone,
Wasted by the years, ere the end of his life,
What is there then to shed when cut again?
Nothing left to nourish regrowth,
Defences worn thin till he stands bare to their blows,
Each cut leaving a darker scar
Till not even blood can be drawn from his frame.
Turning from hug to hug, comforted only by liars.
His back soon covered and broken open.
Bit by bit every last speck of substance slips out
lost on the wind and ne'er regained.

He stands alone at the centre of the universe;
Nowhere to go and no one to go to.
Through the heat and the cold he remains in place
As it all expands. Each passing second it moves on,
Further and further from sight and memory
Till finally he can no longer recall what it felt like to care.

Stars the only witness as time performs last rites,
Astral dust sparkles and sings silently to the emptiness.
His shell echoes back to them,
Its hollow sound no more than a fading glow of life.
One by one the stars will be extinguished until the last one leaves
in a brilliant flash of light and the final soul departs.

Then the darkness may finally close in,
wrapping insubstantially around him.
A shroud of black.
An embrace that can't be felt.
And still he stands there, just wishing he had more tear.
One last vessel to join the rest.
"If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind."

Sail Forth To Find The Waiting Sea (Poem)

Sail Forth To Find The Waiting Sea
By: Rakuen Growlithe

I once owned a boat, that bobbed upon the sea,
Its hold was stocked with cargo,
More precious than they knew.
Not gilded tomes nor jewelled swords,
treasures it held none.

I sailed across the open sea,
No compass and no map.
I only heeded to the wind and
Travelled where it blew.

The first time that I came to port, sails billowed at my back
They all came out to greet me,
People I never knew.
So we exchanged our pleasantries,
And when the night fell, retired to our abodes.

Again they came, as the sun rose,
I greeted them once more.
“Our friend,” said they,
“Would you not rest?
The road is hard for such a soul
That dares to travel alone.”

I thanked their words and took their offer.
A solid floor that didn't heave,
And grass beneath my feet.
I stayed there for a mite too long,
Or was my coming my only flaw?

They sent me on my way again,
Citing saccharine lies.
Blindly I accepted them.
How could I know of lies back then?
I'd never had to lie.

But when I set my feet below, my ship was bare of all.
I sat there in my misery,
Lamenting of my loss.
How could they take what I had there?
I vowed to not give up.

Alone I sailed, as long as I could, never venturing to the shore.
And when my path was dry,
A thought of what I once had had
Could raise the ocean more.

A ship cannot forever sail, however you may wish.
Once food ran out
I knew I'd have to land,
A lighthouse beckoned me.
Like a moth, I set my course

A second port, a second crowd but now a wiser me.
To wine and dine is somewhat fine
But my was boat just for me.
“You cannot board,” I did declare.
Hearing this half of them left,
And I joined with what remained.

I told my tale of woeful loss, they listened and they gave a nod.
“Don't fear,” said they,
“We'll guard your ship.
Never will it come to pass
That a lie slips from our lips.”

A forking a tongue, a silken tongue
Can weave a net of words.
They left me all,
Each one holding up a promise,
A shield, a ruse, wool over my eyes.

I waited on the docks all year, talking to the sea.
“Don't fear small one,” she said to me,
“Mortals always lie.
A fib, a lie a falsity,
Occurs in five of five.”

She tapped on my boat, a hollow sound,
A mirror of my heart.
With weary legs and blurry eyes
I stood at the till.
My sails dropped down and I waited for the wind.

“You're always there for me, my friend.”
The wind whispered back, “I am.”
Then fleetingly the air stood still
my boat too ceased to stir.

“What is there left for me to do?” I cried out to the skies,
“Each one has come and took their share.
Of what was mine and left me here.
The wind herself forsook my sails,
Now a sorry sight this is.”

My boat began, right then to turn, a motion never seen.
“What's happening?” I asked the sea.
“I'll hold you for eternity.”
One last promise, one last friend.
Green, blue and grey
and then the end.

Your poem touched a part of me that I can't decribe.All I can say is that I was very much like that man & a part of me still is. The best way to beat the darkness of loss & pain is to find reminders of hope & love, BUT its still long recovery. Exelent poem

Pit of Despair (Poem)

Pit of Despair
Rakuen Growlithe

So here I stand, once again
In a place where all things end.
Roads and alleys leading in.
Not an exit nor a friend.

Miles of darkness all around.
I shake and cry – there is no sound.
Colours fading... Tears? It's raining.
All my fears. Pursuit! They're gaining.

Claw the sides. Climb the walls.
Scratch the surface. Start to fall.
Crumbling. Dropping. Sinking down.
Broken dreams. No solid ground.

My ladder built from shattered heart.
Crawl and climb; must reach the top.
And what remains as I depart?
Can never look back. Never stop.

Well done. I like the imagery, and the inconsistent rhyming scheme.
I'd be interested in seeing you do more.

Thanks. It's consistent in verses. And it's symmetrical too. Verses 1 + 4 and 2 + 3 share the same rhyming pattern. Well... roughly rhymes. I do have some other poems, even on here but I looked back at some earlier today and I didn't like them. They're around though if you're really interested.

I wrote a short little poem for TheOldWolf on Telegram today but got no feedback. :'( So I decided I would post it here. And, while I was at it, I went ahead and merged all my old individual poetry threads into one. That seems to be the popular approach for poetry.

Everyfur loves the internet's puns.
We all agree that they are such fun.
Even if you say yeet,
Be it sunny or sleet,
It was said so we've already won.

One More Step

When you take your first step, all the world's unknown;
No markers there to guide you, your path is your own.
You light your own way, while blazing a trail;
Drawn to flickers in the distance, perchance to cast off the veil.
Together burning brighter, form a temp'ry abode;
But nothing lasts forever, when each has their own road.
Lights diverge from each other, travelling paths still uncharted;
And each step takes more effort, not quite like when you started.
Still no signs and no markers, telling you where to go;
So much easier to stay here, in the place which you know.

When you turn to go back, you see nothing is there;
Just a cold, empty path, with no sounds anywhere.
Try to glance through the soft fog, 'neath a darkening sky;
The fading glow of your memories, all that's left to see by.
Where are the lights, which once shone so bright?
Their places taken by shadow and a darkening night.
Will you brave the darkness of an unknown trail;
Unsure what lies in wait or if you'll even prevail?
Or cling to the fading glow of a world you had known;
'Till blown away with the fog or turned into stone?
That's not how you made it here, of that I guarantee;
Your light's not stopped burning and there's still more to see.
What lies out there beyond, what paths will still converge?
A brighter, shining light could have yet to emerge.

Everything from your past, all the people you know;
They all live inside you, you shine with their glow.
You can make it much brighter, depending how you respond;
Face up to the darkness, though unsure what's beyond.
Gather your courage, it is time to be bold;
Life's journey isn't over, until we are cold.
Pick yourself up, you don't belong in the past;
One more step, keep repeating, and your journey will last.
"If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind."

The Forest Through The Seasons

I love the golden colours of the tawny autumn leaves.
And when the winter wind does blow, oh how they glint and freeze.
But spring is when the sights of trees, most do my senses please.

A view of many barren trees, poking from the soil,
reminds me when a zombie's hands invade this mortal coil.
And new leaves growing out, so green
resemble maggots. Quite obscene!

Then while I look, I often wonder,
where did I put my shrink's new number?
