Uzumaki, by Itou Junji.
http://kissmanga.com/Manga/Uzumaki/Uzum ... 1?id=56778
You know when a horror story tries really hard to be scary, but just ends up being hilarious instead? Uzumaki is kinda like that. It's about a town being haunted by spirals. As in the pattern.
Some of the chapters almost get a creepy vibe going, but for the most part I'm just reading it because it's funny as fuck.

The cover makes it look like a Harry/Hermione ship fanfic.

I just found a hilarious little manga, Ajin-chan wa Kataritai, by Petosu. It's similar to Hitomi-Sensei (supernatural beings in a high school setting), but focuses more on cuteness and humour, which it has in spades. Seriously, I've only read nine chapters so far, but I haven't laughed or squee'ed this hard in ages. Funny and adorable. :3

"Uchi no Musume no Tame Naraba, Ore wa Moshikashitara Mao mo Taoseru Kamo Shirenai", by Chirolu and Hota. Daaaaaamn, dat title. o.O
http://kissmanga.com/Manga/Uchi-no-Musu ... ?id=309932
This is a story about a young man who finds a demon girl in the woods, lost and afraid. She can't speak any English and one of her horns is broken, the brand of a criminal in demon culture, but he can't just leave her to die, so he decides to take her home and take care of her. :3
So far it has an "Usagi Drop" kind of vibe, but in a fantasy setting. :3

Sounds intriguing. A story filled with action, suspense, mystery and romance. A real tear jerker at times too. Star crossed lovers, spies from different governments forced to choose between their country or their hearts. What will happen when aliens start their invasion, spreading a plague that raises the dead as zombies! Oh what will our protagonists do? Will love prevail?Adagio wrote:Sedra Smith - Microelectronic Circuits. Real page turner... >~<

"Tenkuu Shinpan", by Miura Tsuina and Oba Takahiro. It's about a high school girl who gets transported into a bizarre world comprised entirely of sky scrapers connected by suspension bridges. Access to the ground is blocked off and all the buildings are filled with psycho killers wearing smiley face masks. It's sort of like a slasher movie, but in manga form.

"Doukyonin wa Hiza Tokidoki Atama no Ue", by Minatsuki Tsunami and Futatsuya Asu. It's about a reclusive writer and his cat. What's interesting about this manga is that each chapter is told twice - first from the writer's perspective, and then from the cat's. Only when you put both perspectives together do you get the whole story. It's a quirky, but fun way to read a manga, and it generates a surprising amount of feels.

Pride of Baghdad. Written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Niko Henrichon. Based on a true story.
http://readcomiconline.to/Comic/Pride-o ... l?id=64023
This premise had so much potential, and I still feel that, given enough time and pages, it could have been something really special.
http://readcomiconline.to/Comic/Pride-o ... l?id=64023
I loved the premise of this story and the art is quite striking, but unfortunately I came away from the whole experience bitterly disappointed. It starts off with some very philosophical questions about freedom, but quickly devolves into a series of pointless animal fights. None of the characters are very endearing or likeable and spend most of their time caught up in repetitive arguments that don't do anything to further the plot or build character. Considering how short this graphic novel is you'd think every speech bubble would be at a premium, but entire pages are wasted on back-and-forth bickering. It just doesn't feel like they're telling much of a story. It's pretty much just a bunch of characters wandering around for a bit, bickering and arguing, getting into fights with other animals, and then it all gets capped off with a very abrupt, very unsatisfying ending.Summary wrote:In the spring of 2003, a pride of lions escaped from the Baghdad Zoo during an American bombing raid. Lost and confused, hungry but finally free, the four lions roamed the decimated streets of Baghdad in a desperate struggle for their lives.

Enough of all this trashy pop literature. I've been reading classics. Just finished Venus in Furs by Ritter Von Leopold Sacher-Masoch.

I am both curious and confused. Perhaps I shall check it out. "Torikissa", by Nobuyoshi Samurai. It's about two bird sisters who run a bird café. It' super cute and funny. :3

Note: This manga started out as a 4-koma (you can think of 4-koma's as comic "strips" rather than full comics) so if a page is divided into two columns, you read the frames from top right to bottom right, THEN from top left to bottom left.

Not that Animè is not reading.
But it's time someone broke Contrasts streak...
I'm reading Blue Sky. A book by someone know only as "W. A. Fells" (100 internets if you can figure that out... -999999.99 if you google it...)
It's really good despite being fan fic... Seen some spelling oopsies... And one time where she(?) got the formula for gunpowder wrong... (ooooh! I'd like to see her try using potassium chlorate!)
But the story line is amazing!

"To You, The Immortal", by Ooima Yoshitoki.
http://kissmanga.com/Manga/To-You-The-I ... ?id=329056
It's about some... "thing". I honestly have no idea what "it" is, but it has the ability to assume the form of anything it has come into contact with. It comes down to earth and starts its existence as a rock, and then grows from there as it comes into contact with various other things. The story centres around this "thing" as it journeys through life.
There are only two chapters out so far, but they are both highly emotional (especially the first one), and it does a really good job of pulling you in and making you think.
