Don't be Afraid

This eternal ache of a heart rended by hate,
cannot unmake the world that envelops it.
Desperate attempts, to defeat its fate,
a drunken brain, ripped bit by bit.

There's no escape, none nearby,
but the heart of my chosen one.
Only to patch my mental bones that ask me why,
A poetic chapter a failing force is un
done.

Honour, rended from those closest to,
as the cold, reaches to my very soul
to drag me down into adieu,
not farewell but removal of control.

Cautious, as careful can be,
treading landmine, in landfill,
my fragile heart, still at sea,
As head desperately asks
advil.

Too Late

Out these mirrored windows
We see the world travel in to-s and fro-s
Beyond our furthest fathoming,
Our souls slowly unravelling

Hiding in our fox holes,
in this cloyingly cold open plan
with fenced off desk and ‘businessman’
our passions fueled by the ember of cigarette coals,
setting fire to our pockets,
but now and again…and now for the smallest reprieve
while others so carelessly weave,
the rope plaited lockets,

for our young professionals
set amongst the pigeons of opportunity,
now sitting in confessionals
cry to teacher and parent with importunity,

too late, too late
we must survive.

Hey! So I got together with Noah and we did a collab poem!

Dreams

In heavy consternation, I move across the hall
wondering if this is just a dream or pride before the fall

A kaleidoscope of feelings unknowing
This I suppose was going to be showing

The fears of all my past offense
And possible no...passible trespass.
I should’ve known this day will come
It was inside my dreams, when I was very young
I without my common sense
Full of naïvety, roiling en masse

Black and white, like the cat
Clearly old, and darn well fat
Fed with fear and fed with hate,
Hoping it could dissipate

T’was long ago my dear man
But now I have a plan

A concernèd wail, where, I did not know,
As monsters pale appeared, twixt me and my escape,
“Run,” they screeched their bodies drenched in blood
Crashing down like Nightmare’s flood

Converging on my soul, enticing with their eyes
I thrashed I screamed and all to no avail,
These bloodied beasts had taken in my cries,
My breath cut short, my body weak, all efforts to curtail

Sweat drenched body under covers as my eyes snap open, wide
The heavy breath, the panting breath as it snags in my throat,

These pills...they’d lied
When they said I would float
When torturous day and night together
Become my life-long hellish tether
To my sanity.

Very nicely done you two. I loved the non uniform flow. It made the words even more powerful.

We were doing this poem for 2 hours figuring out how to bring them together and honestly I enjoyed working with Ivic. Hope we do more together in the coming future.

Another poem collab with Noah!

Cloak and Dagger

A ‘missing’ boy, finds his way to town,
Do not let his innocent eyes lead you astray,
Where his own ambition comes to steal the crown,
And in the evening he steals away.

Awake and ready
With all of the inventory, it was subsequently heavy
A bow, arrows and many shining knives
Four or five inches

Is all it took,
A plan conceived,
He could not bring himself to be aggrieved,
For those who stand in his way.

Hidden in the shadows for far too long
One more job and he’ll be finally gone
Black cloak all ready
The streets were, about to get messy

Armed and ready
Running, weapons out and steady
The guards made their way,
To find our boy, and end his stay,

They came,
Surrounded, the boy had no way out,
The boy, left, like he left those around him, without name,
Not scream nor shout.

Noah and I did another poem!

Adult:

These four walls that used to keep me and mine,
a prison of my past before throwing me out into the wild,
A brand new world of fear and ‘responsibility’
yet another challenge, another wall, created, for me, by me, just to ‘Be’.

No more comfort, no need for my safer havens of imagination,
wondering how I thought this was going to be easy.
When all I’d been taught was constant consternation-was I listening?

An independence, a maturity could this not be my living hell?
Merely working, waiting, feeding...toward the final death knell?
Why should I do this?
“Survival”.

Somehow Hopeful

Sunlight blocked by curtains drawn,
hidden from view
stands a man with journey curtailed
by malformed malfeasance
a growth of sorts gently gnawing
as days go by.

Check-up and touch-base,
meld into one,
hospital strip and gown
whir, click and moan of MRI
tunnelled vision
with fine-tuned precision

We can’t make an incision.

You’re too far gone.
But let’s keep you
as you for as long as possible.

And so he waits.
Works

Aches.
Journey curtailed

And somehow hopeful.

That sounds kinda negative there, things looking bad?

😭 God I'm going to miss you, I would have given my life to save yours. RIP my friend.
If you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear,
if you've something to hide you shouldn't be here.
