Rather Mature Subject... should this be NSFW?

#1

Post by Raven Song »

So I've been suffering from depression for a long time... and I have certain ways of dealing with these things... yes, albeit unhealthy... but it helps me... I think.

Anyway! It got me thinking... and I'm going to give this a try...

I'm going to do a series of pieces dedicated to all those who lost the battle some of us fight every day.

My ideas for the series is:

Pic 1)
Outlines of two arms and hands painted in blood (pigs blood plus a preserving agent won't let the blood degrade) , with the wrists torn open, revealing smiling faces and happy scenes beneath.

Pic 2)
A person wearing a scarf made out of rope fibres.

Pic 3)
A light bulb shattered, a dove flying out. The light bulb would be made of glass bits and the metal parts from razors I think... so 3d work.

Pic 4)
A young girl made of pills, dressed in a dress made from alcohol bottle caps.

At present I can't think of any others... but if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them.

Also I'd like to hear your interpretation of my ideas... I know it's pretty morbid but I think more works like this should be done.

If it helps you heal, I wouldn't call it unhealthy.

I find beauty and fascination in it. Also as a ginger I feel pain differently and that fascinates me too.

Yes, or rather the concept of how it is done and turning the pain into something beautiful...

Here's a couple for you:
Flowers and light streaming from a gunshot wound.
A sunny forest under a bridge at night.
... Maybe it is morbid, but I understand. Putting pain on paper can help sometimes.

This is a most interesting, if not somewhat controversial, idea. Nonetheless, I can see the creativity within it. If you believe this will be therapeutic or may help others, I encourage you to proceed with it. If, for whatever reason, it only serves to create cognitive dissonance and more stress, it may be wise to stop.

I have another idea for you: picture a profile of a beach, with a hat floating on the water, and the aquatic lifeforms underwater forming a humanoid walking silhouette.

Absolutely, go for it. I might want to explore at least one of those ideas myself someday, but I would love to see what you could do with them.

Goodness this reminds me so much of Ingrid Jonker. I tear up when I think about it.

As to ideas, a poem written from the tip of a knife in blood with an inkwell filled with it, possibly show smeared blood from the wrist of the hand.

I used my blood in art once (or twice?). Ah... those gothic emo days...

If I remember correctly there have been some art that's been done of some furs before, such as mattedfur, he has a picture done for him that he relates to very closely which seems like a really ordinary one of him smiling till you notice his chest, particularly where is heart should be, there is just a huge blood stain on his shirt and looks like a serious wound. He took it as the whole smiling to wear a mask kinda thing to not make people worry but in fact his heart has been really hurt.
For the most part, it is pointless to be sad in life.
Because sad spelt backwards is das
And das not good

I find the cincept of art holding pieces of ourselves or of what has damaged us to be very healing. Im in the process of cresting three very personal peices of my sona which i feel is a hewlthy healing process.
