Doodles & Scribbles

#1

Post by Sudan Red »

I might as well start a thread here too! :) I draw such a wide range of things but I will endeavour to post anything share-able here. I think it will force me to get back into the saddle on the drawing thing...

So first up is actually a logo I did this weekend for someone's brother's aunt's husband's dog's mother's owner (yeeeahh... don't know the guy from a bar of soap...). They have a business called "Tlou Tsabagale" (the Warrior's Elephant). They wanted an elephant (duh) and a spear and GREY. I think I checked all the boxes.

Indeed you have. I need to get a programme that does vector work so I can start making logo's. what do you use? Because that looks awesome

An old bootleg copy of Adobe Illustrator 10, although I think cheaper options should be available in the 10+ years since I got mine. I vastly prefer vectors to digital painting. It feels much more flexible and I love the crisp lines.

My abject apologies for a double post (may I burn in Forum Etiquette Hell...), but I just realised that I will be on leave next week (MANY EXCITE).

So let's get me on the right track with relaxing and flexing some creative muscles. Please post a ref or description of your character along with a key word (eg beach), & I will try to doodle up something to match.

DISCLAIMER: I will definitely not get to all the requests, so please don't be GrumpyGusses if I don't pick someone. I'm going to choose requests that immediately evoke an idea and might even switch between requests to shake off my art block. Results & level of finish may vary!

Awesome! I would really appreciate it if you could do a character from my novel. I don't have a ref of her, but hopefully a description will be enough.

Name: Nilia
Age: Approx 25
Species: Anthropomorphic Wolf

Body Type: Nilia is tall (roughly 1,9 meters) with a muscular, yet feminine build, similar to this:
1368250475.wolfy-nail_2013-05-08_-_shirawild-finished.jpg
Colour scheme: She has the same colour scheme as that of a turtle dove, with rich browns and dark blacks. Not the same pattern, though (that would probably look weird on a wolf), so feel free to incorporate these colours in whatever way you see fit (assuming you choose to do art of her, and assuming you choose to add colour).
turdo_tcm9-22278.jpg
Clothing: She wears primitive clothes made out of animal skins and leather. She really doesn't care about her appearance at all, so they're ragged and torn. No shoes (she has digitigrade feet paws).

Accessories: VERY IMPORTANT. She always wears a single bear claw around her neck. This is a very simple necklace and doesn't have any other decorations to it. Just a black bear claw on a string.

She also carries a large knife on her hip in a sheath attached to her belt.

Hair: Slightly longer than shoulder-length. Once again, she really doesn't give a fig about her appearance, which means that her hair is rather messy and often tangled. Since she spends a lot of time in the woods, there's always a good chance that there might be leaves or pine needles stuck in there.
This is the kind of hair style I'm talking about:
363466_-_Sakido_Slightly_Damned_webcomic.jpg
Face: Nilia only has two facial expressions: Neutral and Annoyed. Even when she gets angry, it rarely shows on her face, and when it does it usually doesn't go any further than a frown and a glare. Those who know her well enough, however, know to steer well clear of her when that happens.

Eyes: Dark green, with optional black warpaint beneath.

Keyword: Forest

And that's about it, really. If you need any further info, please don't hesitate to ask. And thank you for doing this. I hope you'll find my character interesting enough to make some art of her. ^_^

Great description, wouldn't mind seeing that.

My suggestion is a Cape fox working his tail off. (don't take it too literally)
It can either be physical labor or studying.
I leave the rest in your capable paws.

Contrast - it was a lot of info to go through, but here is my attempt (I am woefully devoid of any acceptable colour-adding options, but I think it would benefit from it - looooads of overlaps).

I can see plenty of errors but I think I am getting back into the saddle with these sketches. Thanks for helping!

Would it be okay if I re-upload this to my FA, SF, and DA? I'll be sure to give you proper credit, of course.

Do you want me to wait for a better quality photo before I upload it? Either way is fine by me. I probably wouldn't have gotten around to it for a while anyway, so I don't mind waiting. :)

Can I have one, pretty please? Not of my own character but one for my non-furry mate: an irascible honey badger. :P
If you feel like adding a theme, put him in a suit looking like he's about to strut into court and go full legal on someone's ass.

Oh my goodness, what lovely sketches! Pick me please! :D

Build- Nasheera is a crux hybrid! She has a wolf-like body with chunky digitigrade legs. A long, snow leopard like tail, a wide snout and basic head shape of a wolf.

Patterns- Nashie has a fuzzy black base coat. She has 4 dark blue spots down the outer of each arm, leg/thigh, back and tail.
A dark blue stipe running from her nose up the middle of her face.

Special features- Nash has two small, blunt, almost tusk like teeth sticking out each side of her mouth. The tips of her hollow ears curl back. Her hair is a thick, two toned mowhawk type of style! A bright green nose, tongue, pawpads, claws and eyes!

I'd love to see her drawn out in your own style. Just go crazy! :D

Coolio! Does she have hindlegs or can she be ethereal at will like in your picture?

EDIT: oh also, what kind of personality/activities?

Oooh yay! She does have hindlegs, quite bulky ones. You can draw her any way you'd like, ghostly or not! That picture is just a silly scribble from last year, but indicates her patterns quite nicely.

She's bubbly and active. Always looking for a way to help out and put a smile on everyone's faces. Nash has a slight obsession with, ehm, leaves. Chasing them, eating them, sticking them up her nose...you name it! Sometimes she tends to get lost in her own little world.

I hope that's enough to go on! If there's anything else you'd like to know, just shout~ :D

Bit more cartoony, but only because the "OBJECTION" meme was too appropriate to pass up.

Could we pretend I'm an actual cat, and this scenario plays out?

My character has too much detail... So just go generic snep!

For KSpore - I love doing candid poses. Furries just "standing around" make them seem more life-like/normal. Almost like you could see them around the next corner.
