Did this when Ryall showed me what he can do with the pen tool in PhotoShop:

This is me messing around with vectors and the pen tool.

I then decided it would make a grait avatar and made a few changes:

It is .png that plays with black and white colours depending on the background.

I use about 15 different types of pincils
And lot of practice ,you need to keep to a constant stroke and the same direction of your stroke
And if you want your drawing to stand out you need to have dark lines in some places

I was trying to draw a reference sheet for my own fursona the other day, but found that I really suck at that - I am far more used to drawing anything with a military theme! I kept telling Splicer that but had nothing to show for it because all my digital art was lost when I reinstalled my pc and my external hard-drive with the backups got stolen right from under nose.

So, I decided to draw my FPS gaming persona: Desolater (aka. Sgt._Numb or Lt._SALTY if I am playing WW2 shooters ). That or it's just some random 'commando.'

I live by the motto, "tread lightly, and carry a big gun." LMGs are my weapons of choice, but I do whip out silenced SMGs and even sniper-rifles for when it's time to be extra stealthy - that and throw in lots of utilities like flash-bangs, thermal imaging and some C4.

Anyway, just did him with my mouse and the pen tool in photoshop.

Those are amazing!

The Fox is made up of color layers.
But the shading is done by making a black layer with 40% opacity.
A mask is then put on that layer.
The brush too is then used on the mask to give it shading.
That same layer can be given a shine by making it white.

Hope that helps.

Um, when you are posting a topic, right at the bottom is an option to 'browse' your computer for images and/or files, which you then select and press 'Add the file.' Once it has finished uploading, the page will refresh and there is an option to 'place' the picture in line in your thread.

By the way snowolf, did you draw those 3 pictures? They are amazing!

This is what we are working on.

Destroyer class.

As you can see the final texture layers has not been created jet but we got the bump map down.
The ship also works like a charm.

It has 1 repeating photon cannon in front.
4 heavy torpedo tubes on the top.
And one ion cannon hanging below.
I just want to show of the art side of what we are going to do But i'll probably start a Home World mod thread later on...

I will try to get a stylish screen shot of it attacking other ships later.

no... this is our own mod.
We just used a default texture on it so we can see how it shoots.

So far we are only thinking of having 1 race (it depends how fast we can make the models).
We are mostly concentrating on the game play.

I have an idea about the ships,say you have a battleship and it gets hit buy a missile it should leave a mark on where it was hit even a hole of some kind?

Or say it gets hit by ion laser samething, leave a mark or dig in to the ship ect...

Those are just ideas.
I have many ideas that I would like to share just ask and ill tell.^_^

We are trying to do that actually.
We are making the ship almost entirely out of sub systems.
entire slices and layers of subsystems will be added to a very small hard-point skeleton. (It will be like a puzzle that can be blown apart).
The inner textures will have damage texture + triggers to cause fire and smoke on that zone.

As for the ion cannon.
in order to get a melt damage aria we need to add multiple textures to the damage effect decal.
it will need a bumpmap and other textures added to the mark to give a melt look. (problem is we don't know how or if it can be done). As far as we know the system that pastes the mark needs to change in order to handle a smart texture. (think).

but otherwise we got help to change the partial effects.
We added a shit load of debris and sparks to the ion cannon and missiles. (So it is like crazy impact).
when the Ion cannon strikes the hull, it blows off a cloud of debris smoke and sparks.

Awesome great minds think a like, theres a mod could homeworld 2 complex and it was cool and had more ships more fighters ,capital ships ,most new stuff and you could have a bigger fleet ect...

Only one problem is when you got into a battle the game would run /slowly/ , its not my pc.^_^

Ps: when you zoomed close to the ship the game would run slow too.

Hmmm, I am not going to set definite dates because I know that as Christmas approaches I am going to end up getting more and more busy, but, you know me: if I'm on my pc, I'm easy to fine so don't hesitate to ask

Just an idea: why don't you make the resource system more like that of Supreme Commander or Dawn of war - infinite resources at specific points makes for more strategic gameplay rather than people being forced out of necessity into limited resources. I.e. you build an extractor on top of an asteroid or something and it generates a continuous flow of income.

Also, why not make upgrades for the mother-ship (such as faster engines and bigger guns) that allow it to get into combat: it's a risk because if the mother-ship dies it's gg, but a nice addition to your fleet all the same.
