why yes, it’s the shortcut to saving that i use more than i use the shortcut for breathing. i hit it the moment the power went off since my UPS usually gives me time to save and shut down... but since the UPS decided to stop working 5 seconds after the power went off the file corrupted and i lost the entire thing and not just my work since 5 seconds ago.

Ouch, that really sucks. :/

Two words: version control. It will save your life.

Version control might be a little overkill for art... Those files generally aren't worked on for more than a few hours/days, and they don't usually get corrupted unless saving is interrupted half-way through or some such. It was just really unlucky that Animew's UPS failed at precisely that wrong time.

All the percolating is done, and I believe I have found the answer. All I had to do was move a single character to a different location and the resulting Butterfly Effect has led to the deletion of 17 535 words (that's 53 pages) and the complete obliteration of most of the problems that have been plaguing me over the last few weeks.

Yeah, scrapping so much work is a bit of a bummer, but the improvement is startling.
