Started playing around with my spare phone. I switched to using Lineage OS (pretty much the open source parts of Android) a while back and I was going to use it to set up a backup phone like my main one. Now I scrapped that idea and I'm doing the backup phone without Google at all. Could be fun. I only can't do that on my main phone because there are a couple essential apps which I can only get through the Play Store. Now it will just be things were I can get install files themselves or stuff I can get on the F-Droid store. I finished installation and tested the over the air updates. Tomorrow I need to charge it, see if encryption works then start finding which apps I can install or find alternatives for. Luckily I know about half of my apps come from F-Droid anyway.

Waiting for doom to completey download so I can mod my Cpu cooler. Gonna paint the top most fin black. So it can be dark and soul less like me. Using a acrylic paint. Also lots and lots of masking tape

I didn't realise today was a public holiday until I got to my old institute. (I had thought the day seemed rather quiet.) At first I though, "It's a public holiday, no one will be there. :/" but then I remembered the group I was in and went inside anyway. Found four people from my old group working! But that was good, I needed their help to print stuff and now I've got multiple copies of my thesis printed and ready to be bound. I'll do that tomorrow though when everything is properly open! :p

Soooo. I had some (expected) issues with one of my clients, she and her neighbour are too close together and thus their CPEs had some crosstalk.
their Internet connections were unstable and barely usable, so I did the following.
I took out the one CPE, And put it outside, we don't need two of them there's enough bandwidth to support like 4-5 lines in each. So I set up a Mikrotik router to bridge the WAN port and pass it through to another Mikrotik router, I set up the PPPoE client on the respective routers rather than on the CPE, and daisychained the connection to the other router.
And it worked really well!
and the best part, the Mikrotik routers Imtusing are dirt cheap. Like R350 after VAT.
I ended up saving money.
