lion king fandom?

The place to talk about anything just generally furry. If you have a furry-related thread that doesn't fit anywhere else, put it here! Just keep it clean.

Is there a separate fandom for the Lion King or is it just part of the furry fandom?

Yes and no. It's a separate fandom but there is overlap.

You could also say that TLK is a popular gateway drug to the furry fandom, much like Disney's Robin Hood, Lola from Space Jam, or MLP.

Either way, why make the distinction?

I don't think it's fair to call it a gateway. Some people just like the lion king, without liking furries

Not sure if they have their own forums and stuff though, and if not, can you really say they have their own fandom? Are there actually people who are gathering specifically for the lion king, and nothing else? I'd be interested to find out myself...

Well if I'm not mistaken there was at Balto fandom. I'm going to assume that there is a Lion King fandom. Especially with The Lion Guard

Lol, a seemingly young furry asks an innocent question, and the conversation gradually begins shifting towards drugs? I can think of better analogies.

Blizzard, as has been said by several others here, there is some overlap, but you don't have to be in one to be in the other. :) In fact, just enjoy what fandoms you want, and hang around with people who do the same.

Not sure what that has to do with the price of rice in China, but whatever

It was a continuation of my "gateway drug" analogy. People who are into hardcore drugs usually start with the more mellow stuff like weed, hence making it a gateway, but that doesn't mean everybody who likes weed is going to want to try hardcore drugs. Similarly, people who like TLK, MLP or whatever won't necessarily get into furry, but a lot of furries were first exposed to the fandom via those works.
