Furry Hate

#1

Post by YoteFox »

Where does furry hate stem from? I've been quite active on YouTube in the comments lately and it got me thinking, why do people tend to generally hate furries?
There has been numerous posts, videos and threads on this specific topic and I just wanted to add my own opinions about it. I do feel this is highly interrelated with why people are scared to admit to others of their "furryness".

In a reddit post I read the general trend seems that people are annoyed by the fact that furries are quite obnoxious and "loud" about being a furry, also another trend goes that well you guessed it people are grossed out by Yiff and understandably so. It's not exactly the most normal pornography of all types if you know what I mean.

Reddit post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/c ... e_furries/

I think these are the two main reasons. We have all been through this, we are adults well atleast most of us and we like pornography. What is better than pornography of an awesome interest. I personally feel that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Yiff and we should enjoy it for what it is. Great art and a sexual turn on. But do it privately, don't go showing off your yiff to everyone and blatantly showing that you're into humanized animals having sex. Uncle Kage once said in a video that the general furry is in their 20's and guess what people of that age like to do, have sex and yes they will incorporate interests in sex. (Just to add something personal of myself, I am a VW fan but car porn just isn't as sexy as furry porn)

Like the first poster on that reddit thread said, the worst part of any fandom is most often the most visible. The fandom has some freaky weird dark stuff in it, though we furries get subjected to it on a daily basis that we are desensitized to it. Therefor we see not much wrong with it as we tend to become open minded or most of us are already open minded. Hence diversity.

People seem to generally not like fursuiters because of the fact that the media portrays the fursuiters of only having these expensive disneyesque suits of the cartoon dog selves to have sex with, this does affect me personally as I am a up and coming suiter myself and possible fursuit maker of the SA fandom I do not condone any form of sexual activity involving fursuits. Not only is it immoral to walk around with that suit in public it's extremely dangerous to engage in sexual activities with a suit as dehydration can occur and you can die. Some fursuiters are dicks and they portray their character that way making that beautiful creation tainted (Very seldom)

Also to touch on the "Loud" topic, it's great to be proud of your fandom just don't push it in other people's faces. This touches on those "fursecuted" individuals who can't accept that they are actually just assholes in real life and think people blame them for being assholes because they are furries. "STAHP THE FURSECUTION" oh fuck off, this annoys the living shit out of me. Take gay pride as an example, great I'm glad you are proud of being gay, just don't rub it in my face or make me tired of hearing it.

Personally I only talk about the furry fandom when it is brought up or when I am conversations with my friends and jokingly say "Yeah you just hate me because I am a furry". People's reaction to the furry fandom has been great so far, I personally feel with SA we have a blank slate since furries aren't that known here.

Something I personally do find extremely annoying is the amount of roleplaying (Says the guy with RP in his signature). I do like some extent of roleplaying though don't make it creepy and for goodness sake when you are in a serious conversation don't fucken roleplay, there is a time and place for everything.

Yes yes, very repetitive from what other's have already said but I wanted to add my two cents aswell. Also I couldn't sleep and kept thinking about this. I've spent countless hours on the internet replying to hate comments and feeding the troll, yes how stupid of me. I'm not even replying or feeding their hate trolls anymore, only makes things worse.

But also you're own attitude towards it can make the difference, if you feel that you are in a crazy shit taboo sexual mass orgy zoophilia fandom and you don't want to talk about it then that is your perception of it and you will most probably portray it in that way.

I want to end off by saying, be proud to be a furry but for the love of the fandom don't rub it in other people's faces, always be humble about your fandom. I've been thinking about this allot lately and it's seriously bugging me. We furries are amazing people, we are so diverse and talented. Why would anyone hate people for that, unfortunately the more known side of the fandom isn't that and to know the good side of the fandom you have to be a part of the fandom. All of this is just my opinion on matters.

If you ask me, this is what I love about being a furry, being weird and immediately judged. Sounds odd yes. . .but it makes it so exciting to be part of a group that makes any 'normal' person go batshit crazy as soon as they hear about it. They just cannot help themselves but to jump to conclusions and not even slightly try to understand. It makes me smile, because while they get so worked up about it, forcing their opinion down my throat, I just sit there not being able to care less :P. Its been a very long time since I ever replied to a troll online or to any offensive comment about furs, because I realized this is a big reason why I love it. Where is the fun in being fully accepted by everyone. I enjoy people getting worked up about something that doesnt even concern their lives. Its hilarious really.

Just to get a bit back on topic, many of the times why people are against furs is because their immediate thought is beastiality. This is the driving reason in my opinion. Obviously, an intelligent humanoid character acting and living like a typical human is nothing comparable to a speechless creature on four legs. But, people cannot see that difference. Its such a weird kink to them that they will not even attempt to understand, and its much easier for people to react negatively to something very strange the them.

It entirely depends on how you present yourself as a person. Unfortunately many furries think they talk for the whole fandom.

I've been placed on the spot many times and had to worm my way out of it making it abundantly clear that I don't represent furries.

Also Huskitty, I get that but keep in mind some of us don't like negative attention but rather positive attention.

The other thing is there is way less furry hate than furries think.

Oh no I understand, I also don't make it obvious I'm a fur whether it's on the net or in reality. But nobody in this fandom must expect for people to understand them. That is why its important to surround yourself with other furs where you can be as furry as you like.

Also, you are right. There is not that much hate. Most people would leave you alone and get on with their own business.

I don't know anyone can bring themselves to hate people they don't really know, it seems so common on the internet to have strong opinions that you will defend to the death. I think it is way too much effort to hate someone for something stupid like preferring LoL over Dota or being a fan of cartoon animals. I think the flat earth society are rather stupid but I don't hate them, they are making life interesting. I suppose if someone were to tell me to my face that genocide is warranted then I might break his jaw because of my strong opinion which might make me somewhat hypocritical :P. People don't expect any real repercussions for what they say which results in all this shouting aimlessly at each other.

They are probably just bored and hating on furfags is more entertaining than waiting for 9gag to get new content.

Because furries are passionate about being a furry and they want to defend the honor of their mistress the furry fandom lol

Fuck that, I'm over the whole hate thing. Hate me, don't hate me what the hell ever makes you sleep at night. Doesn't mean I am going to hell for being less preferred person in your opinion. Also won't change who I am.

Also to add to the main topic of furries being hated is a general saying that goes, people are afraid of what they do not understand. Furries are not that easy to understand.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your first sentence of this last post you made.
Because furries are passionate about being a furry and they want to defend the honor of their mistress the furry fandom lol
My dad used to get really... angsty at me because I was so care free and happy to walk around telling people "I'm a furry, I like anthropomorphic animals and consider myself an Anubian Jackal called Raven. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL".

As such he developed a "hate" towards the fandom for a very brief period. He'd role his eyes at the mention of something and when we watched that fateful CSI episode together his words were "fucking sick heads. What adult would want to pretend to be an animal?"

I just laughed.

The very next day we went to the mall and I wore my first tail (ah that tail... twas a white shapeless mess I created and then painted orange...), I'd worn it more to irritate him than anything else. While walking around the mall we stopped to eat at Spur. There was a kid crying on the bench outside and he smiled when he saw my tail. My dad noticed that.
When we were inside he asked why I was a furry.
Answer:

Because it allows me the freedom of being something I could never be, without changing who I currently am. I can be anything... tall, skinny, popular, hair that doesn't look like an afro when I wake up. Through my furry eyes I don't see the judgement of others, only a jealousy because I'm so comfortable with who I am, and they cant be that. Yes, it is perhaps "immature" to be 20 something and running around malls in a fox tail. But I could be 20 something and doing far worse things with my life... like pregnant, drunk or drugged u to the eyeballs.

And that's why my dad no longer hates us. He just thinks we're weird.

I envy you somewhat. I dont think I would be able to handle anyone in my family finding out I'm a furry. I dont even think I would be able to go out in public with a tail or anything like that. I say I dont care what strangers think, but there is always that paranoia of bumping into someone who you know.

I've always been the sort to do weird things in public, so from an early age my family expected me to be different. When I was seven I streaked around the tennis courts at school because I was hot...

I'm still a little self conscious about my body type and singing in public, but otherwise I generally don't care what people think :P
