why so many Foxes?
I am a dog.....online research indicates that foxes are among the most popular fursonas around.(top 5).
Yet their relatives like dogs and coyotes ,witch are closely related ,are not even on most lists of popular furs.
Why is this? What makes foxes more popular? What are the defining characteristics that makes the fox stand out from the crowd?

Re: why so many Foxes?
Because foxes are a symbol of mischief, a quality that is desirable in goofy alter-egos.
Also they have a good balance of cuteness and dangerousness.

and they are pretty simple to choose, dont have difficult markings (orange with some black and white) and are all over furry related media. Wolves are also pretty common because of the same reasons...

Because "Fox and the Hound" and "Robin Hood" oh and some epic books about foxes that I read when I was younger.

Being the mate of a fox. I can honestly say Helios' poem is spot on. Tho the name being shouted differs from fox to fox.

my point was, there are lots of butifull foxes to draw inspiration from besides the red fox.
i mean lookadis! and dis!

It'd probably be exactly the same as it is now, except we'd just say "sex" or "fuck" instead of "yiff".

Re: why so many Foxes?
Yes and no, I mean don't get me wrong... Yiff is awesome and a guilty pleasure, but it definitely doesn't rule the fandom. (just stating the obvious lol, we all know this) just as irl the sexual parts is everywhere but it certainly isn't brought up in every conversation. I think the reason yiff is so prominent in the fandom is because we are all on the internet and it's very easy to get away with and there are a lot of places to be innocently un-innocentJakkals wrote:I get your argument ...interesting....Btw..I wonder where the furrie fandom would be without the word yiff though....It seems to play a key role in almost all situations.......
Getting on topic, I myself is also a canine but also a vulpine (hybrid) and a very large part of why I am part fox is because of the personality traits. NOT because I wanna hump everything on two legs hahahaha, but rather because of my playful and quirky nature. The canine in me being my cool and collected side. (call me schizophrenic if you must) but yeah hahaha, I am a canine out and out and I think that why people choose foxes, is like Raven said, they are easy to identify with.

Re: why so many Foxes?
Foxes are beautiful to me.
In Disney movies and TV cartoons I was never into Lions, Dogs or cats.
But always the foxes.
First time I played Sonic 2 I got obsessed with Tails.
I am now subscribed to a few pet foxes channels on Youtube and Twitter feeds.
They are very clever and emotional.
They also have different personalities.
(One thing I have noticed is that most foxes have this very greedy side to their personality)
I don’t describe foxes as cute, But handsome.
Sort of how dragons are intimidating and attractive at the same time.
Foxes have this zone with their look that’s beautiful to look at.
The body looks streamline agile and quick without being rigid or hard.
But my fav parts are the eyes and tail.
Fox eyes always seems to have a piercing intelligence behind it.
I also love foxes with pure white, golden yellow or fiery orange fur.
Especially if they have sky blue or emerald eyes to complement the fur.
Anthropomorphising this makes a very cool character.

I'm a Lumo Green Fox, I chose a fox because it is one of my favorite breeds. Wayyy at the begin before I started on the forums I wanted my sona to be a golden retriever but uhm, it would be weird making my dog at the time my sona lol.
Fox fursuits are just awesome! And mostly all fursuits are based on fox fursuits. Yes there are allot of fox sona's but lately the trend has been going somewhere else imo. There aren't exactly allot of SA foxes.

I'd rather be fursuiting
