Hey everyone! I'm new to the fandom, always known about furries, but joined about 2 weeks back. i'm currently Helderberg based. I enjoy gaming and sometimes outdoorsy activities.

I play most kinds of games, recently got my PC back up and running. So currently into Overwatch, a bit of Warframe, downloaded Guild Wars 2 (yet to play it) i LOVE Indie games and once Xmas money comes along i'll probably be getting FF14 Online

I honestly didn't think there would be any furries in the Cape Town area. Thought i would need to move to America in order to be in the same area as another one XD

Pffft, why stop there, Fox? We are also all just arrangements of atoms and molecules that happen to have found stability as a bunch of evolved apes sitting in front of screens!
But that doesn't stop you from having fun.

That sounds awesome! Though I haven't played them, Overwatch and Warframe are quite popular in the community. So I am sure you can find a few people to have a game with here!

That would be rather cool. I'm still very new to the fandom, so very unsure of a lot. So i think it would be cool to get an idea of what all goes on

What goes on? It's standard social interaction, we talk about the weather, gossip about other fandoms and complain about politics.

Well i hate politics, so i won't be joining those discussions but still keen to know more about the fandom. Such a if there are meets, conventions, seeing whether i could get someone to help draw my fursona and possibly eventually getting my suit made by someone

To answer all of those questions: yes, you can.
Well, to varying degrees of difficulty, of course.

Regarding meets: Do you have a Telegram account? If not, I would recommend getting one. There are several groups that relay information about upcoming furmeets in different areas. My Telegram account is @GalahadRidire - please message me, and I can point you in their direction.

Regarding conventions: Because of the size of the furry fandom in South Africa, there is nothing on the scale of Anthrocon, Eurofurence or other popular overseas furry conventions. HOWEVER, there is a smaller convention being planned for the middle of next year: South Afrifur 2018. The subforum for it is HERE, and the official site for South Afrifur is HERE.

Regarding art: There are many artists in the local community, including but not limited to: Sudan Red, Ravensong, Nanukk Luik, AstroFox, Foxlite, Clarka Cordoza, Nasheera, Furocity Fox and yours truly. I'd suggest searching those names - either here, on FurAffinity or SoFurry - and seeing if one of them offers what you are looking for and appeals to you. Sudan Red can probably point you in the right direction, if you are unsure. There are also Telegram groups for local furry art.

A word of caution, however: Be selective and picky when it comes to art. Some artists are not always honest or punctual with commissions.

Regarding fursuits: Fursuits are harder to come by in South Africa, because of the high costs, reliance on import for some parts, and the shortage of interest. However, it is still quite possible to procure one. I'd suggest talking to YoteFox, Leeward, Sudan Red or IronWolfTempest about fursuits. It may be easier to reach them on Telegram.
