Hello all!
Hi! I'm Trace.
I'm 22 years old, and I'm an aspiring writer and artist; currently working part-time while finishing up the the last class I need to complete my degree in Biology.
I'll start by saying that I'm not actually South African, but I do have a couple connections to SA. I was able to visit once and I've thought of that trip quite a bit ever since. I would go again in a heartbeat if I ever get the chance to do so. I have also had several acquaintances from SA, including a very good high school friend I still keep in touch with. More recently, I met Badge through the same friend, who encouraged me to consider joining this board. Hopefully you won't mind me butting in, anyway.
I'm technically American, but spent much of my younger life outside the States in a little Middle Eastern country known as the UAE. As such, I tend to feel somewhat out of place wherever I am. Being a vegetarian furry with ties to the Middle East is definitely not the norm in the Midwestern US
I'm pretty sure I've been a furry most of my life, but only really figured it out pretty recently. I've known about the fandom for several years, but have only just started to associate myself with it. Similarly, I've only recently started to figure out that I have at least some attraction to men. So I guess you could call my being here a step in a journey of self-discovery.
I tend to be a very indecisive person, and so I haven't yet figured out my fursona. Hopefully I will make some progress on that front in the near future. (Currently I'm using a picture of a fox that I drew a while ago as a placeholder for my avatar.) In the meantime, I'm hoping to improve my art and maybe eventually launch into some larger art projects.
Sorry for the long-winded intro. I hope to get to know a lot of you, and maybe figure out some things about myself while I'm at it! I'd love to answer any questions you all might have. Peace!

Re: Hello all!
Thank you all for your greetings! I appreciate it. As far as games go, I tend to enjoy platformers and story-driven games the most (RPGs and such), but am willing to give just about anything a try.
I will usually play stuff on the PC if I can, but I also own a PS3 and have access to several Nintendo consoles.

Re: Hello all!
Being South African is not a requirement. We have plenty of foreign furs, some of which have visited at one point or another. Even as I type this there is a Swedish fur lurking around. Unless you're like Trump the international aspect of furry is one of the nice things.

Re: Hello all!
Thank you all for your warm welcome!
Can confirm, Ori and the Blind Forest is a beautiful game. Unfortunately it has some framerate issues on my PC, and so I haven't gotten very far in it yet.
Glad you don't mind having me here. I could complain quite a bit about Trump, but suffice to say I do not think anything good can come from a platform built on hate and fear. Love will always win out in the end. Anyway...
As far as books go, I have way too many favorites to list. Typically I enjoy Sci-Fi and Fantasy stuff, but will read just about anything if it can catch my interest. If you ever want me to form a list of authors I've enjoyed, I could probably do so at some point.
My forays into anime thus far have been pretty scattershot. Most of what I've seen has been at the direct recommendation of friends or based on popularity (Death Note, Attack on Titan, Future Diary, Darker than Black, Steins;Gate and I still need to finish Cowboy Bebop) but I'll occasionally find a random show and start watching it (The Vision of Escaflowne, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Log Horizon...). The show that got me into anime in the first place was Wolf's Rain, which still holds a very special place in my heart. I've enjoyed stuff from a variety of genres though, and will watch just about anything that's well thought out, has good characters, or is just fun.
I still haven't worked out what I might do in Biology, but I do have a great appreciation for the natural world, at the very least.
I'll apologize right now for my somewhat sporadic posting. Time differences and all that...

Re: Hello all!
Those are two of my absolute favourites! You, sir, have good taste.Trace wrote:Attack on Titan, Steins;Gate
If you liked those, I recommend you give Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood a try. (the 'Brotherhood' version is more faithful to the manga, and is the better of the two, in my opinion.) It has a great story set in an immersive world populated by interesting characters. It has a lot of action and really tugs on your heartstrings as well.
Something else you might like is Hellsing: Ultimate. It emphasises action, violence, gore, and tons of badassery.

Re: Hello all!
Well, well, well, what have we here?
Tender lumplings every age... welcome to something very very strange...
Come with us, and you will see...
A town surrounded by way to many furs!!!! Holy cow (Leeward, hey there).
Welcome though to our special little town, once a year we get to go out and wreak havoc on the world around us, until our greatest fur came along and tried to steal us a second day! Oh my word! The chaos!!!
Now there's explosions, and then there's the nonsense and the running and the screaming and the ugh... I love this place
Now, where's my floating dog and woman who keeps falling apart on me

Badge! You brought me another subject for my tests! Yesss... Yesss... His neck looks nice and thick! Goood! My shock collars will fit nicely on this one!
Oh! Noo! Don't mind the holes in the ground... This one was thoroughly tested on mellons before hand... There is only a 50% chance that it'll kill you... Buch better odds than the last guys...
Lol! I'm kidding!
Hey dude!! Welcome to the forums! Hope your stay is awesome man!

Re: Hello all!
Thanks again for the greetings, all!
I have thought a little about forensic science... Also thought about medicine some. Like I said, I'm pretty indecisive, (I do appreciate the pun, Cape_F0X)
I don't know how I neglected to mention FMA. I've watched through the whole of the original series and read through the entirety of the manga. I've only gotten halfway through Brotherhood, but I should fix that sometime... I haven't seen Hellsing Ultimate, but will consider it.
This is Halloween, this is Halloween... Haha, couldn't resist. Hopefully I can add a little to the chaos.
Hope those tests aren't too hard, I'm barely getting through school as is! *Bum bum tsh*

Portal is AMAZING!!! Have you tried finding all the secret areas?
Oh! Hi! How are you doing? Because I'm a potato!
I listen to the sound track when I'm studying...
I love "Want You Gone" and "Cara Mia Adio"

Re: Hello all!
I think I did manage to find all the secret areas in the first game, and at least some of the secrets in the second.
And yeah, Portal 2's soundtrack is really good for studying. Hmm, I haven't actually listened to it in a while... Time to fix that!
Would agree that "Want You Gone" and "Cara Mia Adio" are fantastic.
