There's no rule against it but, in general, please don't. Many forums will enforce specific language rules partly so that everything can be understood. We don't want to send everything to Google translate to make sure people aren't breaking the rules.

However, there are plenty of people here who understand Afrikaans. Actually, there are plenty for whom Afrikaans is a first language so understanding isn't so much an issue. My Afrikaans is bad but I can understand pretty much everything in everyday language. We do have some users from outside South Africa though and English is pretty much the standard for communication. Of course I doubt anyone would complain about it happening occasionally or in introduction threads.

If a user does it consistently, I'm going to mark them as a foe. I hate that language almost as much as I hate organized religion.

That's not to say that I hate Afrikaans people, of course. Some of the coolest people I know are Afrikaans.

Sev is just jealous because we can make creative and playful new terms. Like referring to a GPS as a "praatkaart" (talking map).

The reason I hate it is because it's the thing that I most strongly associate with South Africa, and I have resented SA since I came back from living in Australia as a child.

That and I was forced to learn it in a year, even though I went to CIE schools, because it was a requirement for university.

I put a real effort in, but I almost failed the exam, and it dragged down my entire GPA.
