Silverfox: The Return!

Guess who's back, back again;
Lurigo's back, tell a friend!

Anywho, I'm Lurigo Freefox; artist, Technomancer and collector of retro electronics, at yer service!
Technomancer.jpg
Been ages since I've posted anything here. Mainly due to being busy with my engineering studies, and countless other life stuff. So I figured I'd stop by Introductions for a "reboot". A look at my initial post reveals that not much has really changed since then. Basically just gained some more music to listen to, and a lot more in the way of artistic experience. So pretty much the same guy, save for some lessons learned over time and longer hair.

So yeah! Guess that's about it. Will slowly catch up on forum-things over the course of the month.
Hi again!

Welcome back :3
For the most part, it is pointless to be sad in life.
Because sad spelt backwards is das
And das not good
Love every stranger, the stranger the better
The darker the night, the brighter I glow!

welcome back ,its nice to meet you.

hello new oldfur! O_o or old newfur... both can apply, so lol i duno.
retro electronics you say? that’s interesting, i once restored an old IBM keyboard and converted it into USB. they sure made stuff to last back then. you also restore old electronics? <_< most people are against "upgrading" i guess but you got to admit some of the stuff can be pretty useful when brought into modern application. also nice pic bro! dem skills!
Duck face? i thought they were all just making fart noises when posing for pictures...

Equally effective! Hi there! :D

That's really awesome! Those IBM Model-M keyboards are legendary.
I restore stuff when I have the time and money. Recently bought an old oscilloscope from the 70's I want to restore. Needs some new capacitors and things to fix the vertical trace issue. Horizontal seems to still be fine, 40 years later.

I'm all for modernizing old stuff. If they were great at what they did back then, then they should by all means be made compatible with the current world to remain great at said thing today. As long as it doesn't take too much of its old retro charm away, though.

Thanks! I love drawing! :D

Heya! Welcome back!

If you ever need an old capacitor or vacuum tube, I have a few!(Ok, that's a lie, I have a lot...)

I'm thinking of retrofitting an old radio that we have lying around for aux, and maybe an Arduino MP3 player... Also, through in some Nixie Tubes for a display... Too bad you don't get those in Alpha Numeric... I'd like to keep the amplifier though... Make some audiophile's jealous! Haha!

Anything interesting you're working on?

Hey there! Thank you!

Oooh, excellent! Might need a couple more tubes for an amp I might make someday. Dug out about 4 or 5 so far, but still need a few.

That sounds like a pretty cool idea! I want to mod my car's tape player to have an aux as well, but haven't gotten beyond searching for methods on how to do it. Nixie tubes are epic! Would have been great to have alphanumeric ones. Definite eye-catchers those.

Currently busy with an 8-bit computer project actually. :D
Posted about it here if you want to read about it.

Why the tape player though? You get those FM thingies?
Just to say "I did this?" hahaha! I should show you my Bluetooth to aux thingy... XD

You used to get those tapes that converted it to aux... It should be simple... Could 3D print the tape housing, and just use a write head... I have a few of those also... Hmmm...

Those FM thingies aren't all that great in terms of sound quality most of the time. And would look out of place in an 80's interior. Aux connector is way less noticeable, and would bypass the modulation and things. And it'd leave the 12V jack open for a charger.

I saw some of those tapes! They're pretty cool. Wonder where I'd get one.

On BidOrBuy of course!

But you could probably cook one up for a few bucks if you wanted to...
I'll hook one up to the oscilloscope tomorrow and figure out line levels...

Nice! Cool thing about those is that they don't have an actual tape in them. My car's tape player has taken to eating everything I put in it. Magnetic spaghetti! \ o /
