Hiya! Name's Tallowick, but you can call me Wick for short.
I'm currently writing from Japan, having arrived here in March to teach English for a year, but I'm originally from the Garden Route and will be returning there eventually (any other people from there, please let me know!)
My interests include art (watercolour and digital), writing (someday I'll start that comic, I swear), music (I play a couple of instruments) and games (classic RTS, RPG's and Souls-like).
I'd love to meet more people so shoot me a message if you want to nerd out about something!

I've seen your name around before.

Oh no, my reputation precedes me, haha.

I've been hanging out around the edges of the fandom since around 2019, interacting here and there. I figured it can't hurt to see if I can find some more people in my local area.

Hiya! Welcome!

You're an artist? Got any place we can see your work?
Also what do you play?
Also also, RTS is my favourite kind of game!
A friend from Ireland recently made me get Tempest Rising! It's a fun game!

I try to be an artist, but whether I succeed at being one is a philosophical debate that I struggle with daily.
I can post my Linktree here if that's okay, but you can find me on Twitter, Bluesky, Deviantart or Telegram if you just look up "Tallowick".

Niiiiice! I was raised on the classics: Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Command & Conquer etc. Most recently I've been keeping an eye on a new RTS called "The Scouring" that's essentially a love letter to the original Warcraft.
I haven't heard of Tempest Rising, but it definitely looks like it's worth checking out!

As for what I'm currently playing, I finished Nine Sols recently, a platformer metroidvania with Sekiro-inspired combat.
Well fancy that.

Hello and welcome, I hope you are enjoying your time in Japan. Have you played Kingdom Come: Deliverance or the sequel? The first one is a bit janky but if you like more realistic combat in your RPGs then you might enjoy it. Where in the Garden Route were you originally from? There was someone who lived in George but they recently moved to Hogsback in the Eastern Cape, unfortunately I don't recall their name.

Hiya!
It's been a wild time, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Although I am a bit nervous about the coming winter, considering I'm not exactly used to snow, haha.

I haven't played it, but my friends have and I've heard mostly good things about it! It's on my ever growing list of games to check out.

I'm from the George area! Aaw, just missed them, it seems.
Well fancy that.

Eeey, I remember doing those! It was so much fun figuring out that style. Well met (formally).
I had no idea there were so many furs in Stellenbosch. I did my studies there and I quite miss the place.
Well fancy that.

Aaaw, I'm glad!
One of the weird things about being an artist in the community is I've done a number of profile pictures for friends, and I still get a little jumpscare every time I'm contacted by someone wearing my drawing as their online face, haha.
Well fancy that.

Since you seem to be quite passionate about swords and swordsmanship, have you ever tried participating in HEMA? Unless you already are.

Oh? What gave it away? Was it the way I carried myself, my skill with a calligraphy brush, perhaps? Jk, jk, I assume it's because of the things I draw, haha.

I haven't done any HEMA, but I know it's gaining some traction back home, I'd love to try it out eventually. Right now I'm practicing kendo, though!
Well fancy that.
