Delete Thread

How come there isn't a function for the creator of a thread to delete the thread. For instance my most recent venting and support thread, not just the most recent post. but the whole thread. It no longer applies, I want to gone. But I have to ask one of the admins to do it.

As the original poster, shouldn't I have the right/ability to do it?

Just wondering.

PhpBB and VBulletin haven't ever had that feature but yes I admit it should be there.

It can probably be deleted within the edit period. There are drawbacks if users had that ability though and perhaps this way they think a bit more about what they are going to post.

The thing is like for instance my vent thread, not a single piece of it applies to me now. Or I'd like to reword it to apply better, without it being a convoluted mess of "but two weeks ago you were X, how can u now be y".

But I do understand why it isn't there. People could easily run around deleting their old stuff too save face etc.

Best option here would be to ask a mod to delete the thread for you - or if you feel it has gone off-topic, to clean it up a little and split it.
