I dont know if this is a problem only i have or maybe others have experienced it...

but there are some topics (like in the discussion subforum - seriously you should save) that dont want to be marked as read. in fact that particular one says it doesnt exist anymore...

but like some of the cape town ones for me dont mark as read, and some of them say a certain fur posted last and when i check... it lies! they didnt! or maybe they did and it isnt showing it...

so yeah...

just wondered if anyone else had that.

Hmm... That is odd but I can't say I've had a similar experience.

The saving thread was made by Auric and when he left, but before the admin permissions had been removed, he deleted all his posts. It doesn't look like anyone else had posted there, other threads he posted in should be fine, but perhaps if he deleted the post and not the thread it remained listed but there was no post to link to? I've deleted that empty thread now so that should help.

I suppose it's possible his missing posts have led to some of the other thread issues as well. As I recall Auric did reset post synchronisation after deleting his posts but perhaps there are other similar options to recalculate where everything is. I'll take a look this evening when I have more time.

That may also explain why there's an offset between the first unread post and the one linked to by the red icon in certain threads. Maybe a global recalculation (if there is such a thing) of post counts for all threads would solve the issue everywhere?

I sometimes get this too. Recurring on the same threads. Hasn't happened to me in a while, but sometimes, a bunch of messages from certain threads remain unread

I haven't noticed behavior of this sort.

And, so it's official, Auric will never come on this forum again? Despite all of his nonsense, that thought does make me a little sad.

He hasn't left entirely. He is still supposed to be helping with some technical issues.

Well I've resynchronised everything that looked resynchronisable so we'll see if that addresses the problem.

I still get the second-to-last page glitch on the WAYDRN thread so that issue must be something else.

Yeah, me too. It happens on some other threads as well, like "What are you listening to right now".

And it only happens when there are less than a certain number of posts on the last page, so it's probably an offset calculation error that leads to the wrong page.

I'm afraid at the moment it's beyond my knowledge. I'm not sure if anyone else has ideas on how to fix it?

Would it be possible to add some sort of "mark all topics as read" button?
It's absolute tedium to have to go through all the subforums you have no interest in just to clear them off and get the glaring red bullets to change into a soothing yellow.

Yeah and while we're on the topic, the "view first unread post" link still intermittently takes you to the second-to-last page (i.e. not where the first unread post is) in some places, most notably the WAYDRN thread.
