Um, yes it does. Sure you could complain that it's bad, although that would be incredibly ungrateful, but if someone gives you free food you have absolutely no right to yell at them or demand soup instead of waffles. None whatsoever.

Even commercially, any administrator/caretaker has a list of priorities. Those at the bottom are not even considered until it's their turn, no matter how easy it would be. If a building caretaker is rebuilding someone's wall, he's not going to even consider fixing your doorbell unless you tell him exactly what's wrong with it and how to fix it.

You just contradicted yourself. It may be ungrateful, but saying that somebody is doing a poor job is a perfectly reasonable thing to say, regardless of whether they are being paid for it or not. Yelling and demanding remains unacceptable though, because that's just terrible manners.

Where's my soup, damn it!

Really, one should live by the principle of doing everything to the best of their abilities. Everything will flow from that.

so you don't think that Rakuen and Valerion who do so much for this place as it is are doing everything to the best of their ability?

you both sound like ungrateful little kids.

I guess my argument here would be that if you were not happy with the way in which the forums work... There is always the option to not use it at all, there are plenty of other ways to contact furs... Facebook, WhatsApp... literally any form of social media. I honestly do think that the admins are doing the best they can, even though we may make suggestions it must not be turned into something which is a demand. It is a request after all.

I never said that Valerion and Rakuen are doing a bad job... I'm saying that a figure of authority is not immune to criticism simply by virtue of being a volunteer. Now can we please move on and get back to the actual topic of discussing the forum rules?

Agreed. Anyways, I actually do have a question on the use of vulgar language on the forums, and although it is not high at all, and is mostly seen in vents (fairly enough, emotions run high there) but I was wondering is there a certain point as to where it is simply too much due to the fact this is a public forum?

Edit: I'm not saying it is a bad thing, I'm merely curious as to how it is handled.

I've always thought that this is a little bit of a silly argument. Just because someone complains about something doesn't mean they hate it, and see no value in it at all.

I'm also interested in the answer to this.

That is a blatant straw man.

Where did I ever say that?

This was a completely general statement. It's what I live by.

Most of the forum is PG-13. Swearing is handled ... delicately. Repeated profanity in the same post will let us demonstrate disciplinary action for the forum. There are guidelines, but it's usually a judgement call by the mod.

when made in the context of the argument it comes across as a statement towards the moderators of the forum. therefore it was taken as directed towards them as.

Sometimes the kids table doesn't need mommy and daddy.
There was a happening recently where a user was asked by other users to tone down the swearing cause it was a bit much and a bit repetitive. We're mostly all adults here.
Swearing is expressive. It doesn't add much to any conversation, but it does sometimes help convey a tone of emotion.

yes but that was in the "seen by everyone section" and not everyone here is an adult, some are under 18 and some of those over 18 don't count as adults, myself included sometimes.

I swear on occasion. but when a post is 90% swear words I take offense.

That's all true. I'm was kinda just supposing that it's not really a huge smoking issue that needs to draw the mods attention. We talk about that kinda thing out in the open and it largely gets resolved on its own.

Yeah, outside of V&S that would be most distasteful.

Inside of V&S, I can see an occasional need for it.
Hell, I think that I once made a vent that was pretty much entirely just swear words.

Again I never said "stop people from swearing entirely" we all swear from time to time as it does convey a certain tone or emphasis on something, I'm more referring to the extreme cases where it is unnecessary, excessive and is something which, I felt anyways, needed to be addressed.

Unless I forgot something I'm waiting for feedback from Valerion at this point (and possibly Anoyomouse) for any pending changes.
