Re: Poll: welcome PMs
As a newbie (sort of) I can definitely say that the two welcome PMs I got from Echo and Randall were lovely and something I really appreciated ^^ I don't think it would have changed my decision to stay, given that everyone has also been very nice on the intro forum, but I can definitely see why some...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?
This might be a change of pace from what everyone appears to be listening to but if you can appreciate the art style and pure poetry of this song, then I think you will agree that it is truly incredible:

Re: God the Omnipotent
Except if God is not playing by your rules. the assumption you make here is that your God subscribes to the same laws that confine you and your ability to think up contradictory ideas- if he doesnt then there is no problem, and if he does then I fall back on my previous post. I am not really sure wh...

Re: God the Omnipotent
Oh lol! I seem to have left out an important bit: With regards to your: God cant create a being better than himself. Naturally he cant. The definition of almight is that no other creature can even compete with this being which means that it would be impossible for him to create a being better than h...

Re: God the Omnipotent
So you have presented us with a version of the omnipotence paradox to try and disprove the existance of God? Interesting... You began your post claiming that the idea of omnipotence is contradictory, yet your own Oxford definition of omnipotence negates your own argument. Your definition of omnipote...

Re: On Censorship
It should be open to questioning but not in a derogitory manner, that is designed to hurt people. That is not ok, but I agree that challenging the idea should be allowed. I would never acuse you of denying it so dont even stress.

Re: On Censorship
I dont think that I am confusing the two. When a fundamental attack on a person's diginity occurs then it causes harm to them. Also, remember that the holocaust is an intrinsic part of Jewish heritage. To question and to flat out deny it as never having occured does disrespect not only to the 6 mill...

Re: On Censorship
I find this line of argumentation rather extreme. It seems that you are arguing that people with religious views are irrational because religion itself is irrational. Having grown up in a moderately religious environment I often do find some of what people do irrational but I dont think it is wrong ...

Re: On Censorship
100% correct. Autocratic societies can only work if they have two important things. A strong army and a surpressed populace. While I am an atheist, I think it is important to also realise that there is no evidence that can disprove God either. Religion as an institution can be a credible and useful ...

Re: On Censorship
While it is incredibly interesting analysis to suggest that rights are simply ideas, I dont know if I agree with the way it is presented. Generally in any form of government where they promote censorship, chances are that they could randomly kill you anyway for no good reason. However, I think it wo...

Re: On Censorship
However, that simply goes back to Growlithe's point about the different between censorship and access restriction. Censoring is a more brutal form of information supression that goes above and beyond the simple, telling my mate to shut it type thing. It is where governments go and actively try to re...

Re: On Censorship
Agreed, whenever one of your rights is removed, your life becomes diminished. But then that simply contradicts what you are saying. If people should be allowed to express their opinions regardless of what they are, then why is evidence needed? Its not like opinions need to be justified by anything o...

Re: On Censorship
I agree with you 100% mate. Censorship is a ridiculous notion in any form of liberal democracy. Though I do disagree with the importance that you place on it in relation to other rights. I mean, you would still retain and be able to take advantage of your right to life with certain information censo...

Re: Vuvuzelas
Well, one player to be specific. Xavi, he plays in spain's midfield. I remember watching when ManU came here to play Kaiser Chiefs and listening to the vuvuzela's when the Chiefs scored is definitely the reason why I like them. It does seem that white people and Europeans have a thing against them, ...

Re: Vuvuzelas
I feel pretty awkward being the only one to say yes, I like them
One really has to experience them in a live game to understand why they are, in my opinion, a good way to boost the atmosphere of a game. Its kind of an indescribable thing, but it is a great part of the local footballing scene.
