That's very interesting because I reviewed one of his books for FBR. In the one that I read, the animal aspects of the characters was absolutely essential to the plot and completely shaped the world. It went beyond just tails and paws but the differences and tensions between species, particularly p...

Furry Book Covers

A good cover can sell a book. My experience, however, is that furry books sometimes miss the mark and do a disservice to the actual writing. This is often the case when the author commissions the art, but sometimes even small time publishers get it wrong. And neither is it a reflection on the compet...

#Reading - Finding the Line by Sylvain St-Pierre

I'm about half way through reading Finding the Line by Sylvain St-Pierre Going to be tough one to review... For all it's strengths, good storytelling and intriguing premise, it really tempts fate when describing taboo sexual behavior. Ritualistic orgies. Incest. Scenes involving an under-aged MC and...

Furries, I'm thinking of travelling to the con by train. It might be fun if a group of us can book together, and we could have our own compartment or even carriage, depending on the numbers. Departing Cape Town, Arriving Johannesburg, it is easy enough to connect to the Gautrain and get pretty close...

Hey, This is right up my alley... I'm married to a non-furry and we have two kids. 3yo girl and 2yo boy. To be honest furry isn't very high on my agenda... More a matter of keeping them fed and educated :) I want to raise them sex-positive and open minded, when they are the appropriate age. I guess ...

True. And Hoofers like Deer have Antlers, not horns!

But still, horns are very cool. Like beards. Not everyone has a beard. But those who do are very proud of it!

Hoofer enthusiasts you say? Is this a reference to tap dancing or something else?
Hoofers = Furries whose fursonas have hooves. Horses, Buck, Deer, Cows, Sheep, etc. They are less prevalant, but they certainly are a proud bunch!

Thanks guys! We've done another proof today and got the coloration spot-on now.

We are starting our pre-con production run next week, so please send me your sizes if you are interested!

I've paid license fees to print 15 shirts, so when they sell out, the price is definitely going up.

Keep well!

Re: How much can the SA furry fandom grow?

My 5c... Growth of the local furry fandom will probably be from cross pollination from other geek subcultures. IE, gamers, comic book readers, Bronies, etc. I don't see many furries coming in "off the street" as it were.

Another thing to consider are composite-YCH commissions, where there are a large number of furries in a picture and everyone buys their "spot". The bigger picture could be that of a braai or other furry social activity. (Unsold spots are filled with generic characters.) Everyone gets a copy of the f...
