Exotic pets
Couldn't find one of these, so here!
There is no way you crazy bunch of furs don't have not-so-common pets of sorts hiding in your dens, so please share! Pics, facts, anything! Alive or passed! It's Monday, I'm off and I'm in the mood
To kick off, I've got me a female Python Regius, she's just over 6 months old this month and still going strong (touch wood).
She was a true test of my responsible side and I was truly terrified that I would some how screw up, freakin' spent the first few nights struggling to fall asleep and then waking constantly to check on her The good (and irritating) thing about Ball Pythons is they tend to go off feed if something is even slightly off, from the humidity and temperatures, their general health, to the size and content of the enclosure, so it's at least a convenient warning of sorts
She's what they refer to as a 'normal', so the bog-standard Ball Python coloring and patterns, still freakin' beautiful though so I don't care <3
They're called Ball Pythons because they curl into a ball, hiding the head in the center, when threatened or under attack. Insanely docile, they rarely out-right attack something even if it's eating them alive and not even 1/4 of the size -_- and are insanely easy-going and quite hardy.
EDIT** Please excuse my shoddy photography, when taking a photo with a smartphone using one hand it's a little tough to take astounding shots

Re: Exotic pets
I have been wanting a ball python for ages now, but I can't get one because my mate is scared of snakes. Yours is beautiful, and looks quite sociable.

Re: Exotic pets
We've got 2 snakes (Forgot the type, common snake to have as pets), who I hate...
Also, 2 dogs, border collies. Best dogs ever!
Then 2 cats. Not much to say there
Finally, a bunch of rats named snake food

Re: Exotic pets
She's so adorable! Dude, you seriously need to put her in a tiny little top hat, or maybe a tiny pair of floppy bunny ears (yes, they actually do make those for snakes). x3
In keeping with the topic, I kept a pet baboon spider named Terminator back in high school. My mom wasn't very thrilled with my choice of pet.

Re: Exotic pets
They are well worth the time and effort if you are genuinely interested Ball Pythons are probably one of the best beginners snakes considering how docile they are, they also don't move around too much and are fairly slow at it too--> so overall insanely safe and easy to handle She nipped at me twice when I fetched her from the breeder, but since then I've been bitten twice because I was stupid during feeding, otherwise she's got the best temperament I could hope forLeeward wrote:I have been wanting a ball python for ages now, but I can't get one because my mate is scared of snakes. Re: Exotic pets
We feed him kitten pellets; once, at night.
We have had him since December.
We had him flown in from a breeder in Durban (since you live in a place where they are not actually illegal, you can simply get one from a pet store).

Re: Exotic pets
Umm, I know absolutely nothing about hedgehogs, but don't they need to eat insects too?
Apparently they like crickets. I just overheard that it's very bad for them to only eat only dry pellets.
They are just massively cute thou.

I've got roaches for my Tarantulas, but my family does not find the idea of feeding him insects at all appealing.Helios_phi wrote:Umm, I know absolutely nothing about hedgehogs, but don't they need to eat insects too?

My mother will find a way of knowing. Somehow, she has already caught me with yiff 3 times in the last few months - and I don't even live with them anymore.

Re: Exotic pets
And as a result of that, whenever I mention furries, she cringes.
When I told her that Taka had bought me a leopard tail for my birthday, she absolutely freaked out.
It's almost as if she thinks that the fandom is one big fetish.

Re: Exotic pets
Well that's all she's seen of it so can you blame her? Try showing her some clean art or cosplay.

Re: Exotic pets
I've tried to, but, unlike anime, there's not really a "main" part to it. I have shown here clean art, and she doesn't "buy" it. She doesn't even seem to think that furries are normal people.

Re: Exotic pets
That is a pretty awesome snake you have there Dredge.
A friend of mine has an iguana that I took some pictures of.
His name is Gilgamesh.
Sorry for the relatively poor quality; I was in a rush.
