Cars !! :D
Re: Cars !! :D
I think the gist of it here was "You shouldn't wheelie a four-wheeled vehicle," because clearly you can.

A vehicle that can wheelie will have the following characteristics:Leeward wrote:I think the gist of it here was "You shouldn't wheelie a four-wheeled vehicle," because clearly you can.
- High amount of torque
- High amount of power
- High amount of grip
Haha thanks, been around a bit in the automotive side of things.MontgomerySeven wrote:My boyfriend once described me as "the coolest fur ever", I think that that title should actually go to you.Tactica wrote:I am currently restoring a 1998 BMW M3 4 door and I used to have a 1973 Chevy Nomad with a 3L Ford V6 and a lift kit with bigger tyres.

Also I drive a red, LHD, 1.4L diesel engine 1986 Ford Escort Mark IV that has pathetically little acceleration but is great fun driving off-road with.

The Ford Escort made a good rally car back in the day. Maybe an engine swap could do the trick? Essex Ford 3.0L V6 with a Toyota Cressida transmission setup should do nicelyLeeward wrote:Also I drive a red, LHD, 1.4L diesel engine 1986 Ford Escort Mark IV that has pathetically little acceleration but is great fun driving off-road with.

Re: Cars !! :D
I say open a second mortgage and do it. The result should be completely worth it.
Re: Cars !! :D
I'd rather sell it and buy a slightly more modern 2nd hand car THB, I don't have the budget for much better. I've seen only slightly older Escorts in better condition at the George old car show.
Re: Cars !! :D
I took some pics of my misery the other day, I thought I'd share it here too.
All the exterior damage was NOT done by me. And the costs of it getting fixed are too high to warrant doing it.
Problems; steering rack leaks fluid, wheels aren't aligned, gearbox mount is wearing out, almost impossible or pointless to rev-match because it's so underpowered - I can't even exceed 140kmph without serious steering wheel wobble and 5.5krpm in 5th
Pros; I am able to make the back-rear tyre lift off the ground if I take a corner too quickly and the sheer lack of grip can be fun sometimes. But mostly the lack of grip and awful brakes aren't a good thing
Still hoping to replace it when I get out of college and a job
I have been looking at F20C AP2 S2000s. They seem reasonably priced and I absolutely love that car to death. From the awesome little F20C engine with a lot of potential for turbo if I want to the lovely chassis and controllable steering. Oddly enough I have driven a fair bit in an AP1 S2000 as a family member owned one before :p
Other cars I am considering are the RX7 FD with 13B rotory engine (but omg the maintenance costs) and I WAS going to look at if I could possibly get a cheap R34, but then remembered that they didn't export them from Japan.

Still much prefer the fun of cars. Going in a straight-line is good and all, but it's no where near the fun of the technicality of actual circuit-based racing.

Flat out acceleration is awesome, accelerating out of corners even more so.

Re: Cars !! :D
I have found a new all time favorite car. Toyota Supra. I know it's actually old news but I forgot about it.
1106whp on a stock 2jz motor
Standard they are quite fast already, but what I love about this car it can be modded to hell and back and it eats a Ferarri for breakfast 8D when properly modded of course.
I recently drove a Manual 1.8T VW and fell in love with the boost. First time I have ever driven a manual vehicle with forced induction myself and needless to say, I started toying with the other cars on the road.
I have been watching youtube vids of boosted cars and absolutely fell in love all over again with the Toyota Supra twin turbo. Inline 6 with dual overhead cams boosted by 2 turbo's now that's awesome.
Also as for price, finding them locally is expensive as hell. But Import is the way to go to get value for money.

My next car that I will buy myself is a Golf R or a Scirocco R. Fell in love with the R range of VW. Might be getting a Audi S3 four door in this year, depending if I have the heart to depart with my little picanto at this stage in life.

R Range of VW is really... overpriced and boring to be honest.

Re: Cars !! :D
Actually not overpriced in my honest opinion, but it is somewhat unexplained in the sense that VW was intended to be their cheaper more affordable range and Audi their more classy more expensive range. But even considering that I am a true blue VW fan. The R range has it's problems as do any range of any brand but as for boring I beg to differ.Fluke wrote:R Range of VW is really... overpriced and boring to be honest.
Golf R: 292HP 2.0l Turbocharged, all-wheel drive, sport suspension, 18-inch wheels, quad tailpipes, and a six-speed automatic transmission with launch control. Very luxurious hot hatch.
In my opinion I'd say it's for the man that never wants to grow up. i.e ME!!!! Lol
I recently had the chance to sit in one and absolutely fell in love with the car, so you can say it's more of sentimental rather than practical thinking.
Also as far as hot hatches goes imo there's nothing quite like the Audi S3, Audi A3 sport, Golf GTI, Golf R, Scirocco, Scirocco R (All inherently from the same company and Germany's biggest auto manufacturer).

It's like the Porsche boxter of sports cars
At R550 000 - R500 000 (And that was 2nd hand), I would not buy it.

The price of a car doesn't really phase me, if it's worth the money then I'd probably buy it someday. I'm more concerned with the vehicle itself.

This is a car forum right?
What ya say about a ford figo? Is it any good second hand? How much of a target is it for thieves? What's the fuel consumption?
Also I have no idea about cars.
I know tanks. Not cars.
