Re: What are you reading RIGHT NOW? (Apart from this post)
Just started reading a hilarious ecchi manga called "Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou". Here's the summary:
Three years ago, the world came to know of the existence of humanoid beast creatures after the government decided to stop hiding their existence from the world. It was decided that they would be integrated into human society, and thus the "Cultural Exchange Between Species Bill" was created. Since then, the cultural exchange program became a huge success helping many species integrate into human society.
Basically, it's the story of Kurusu Kimihito and Miia (she's a lamia, or "snake girl"), and the everyday difficulties of living together.
This story is not entirely SFW.

Re: What are you reading RIGHT NOW? (Apart from this post)
I wish I had seen this thread earlier.. None of my friends read and they think I'm crazy when I start talking about books :p
I am currently reading the 3rd book in the 'Painted Man' series by Peter v. Brett called 'The Daylight War'
It's an amazing series, and someone told me a while back it's apparently being made into a movie. I haven't looked into that myself yet though, but I really hope it's true.
I also have another book to finish in the Magicians Guild series by Trudi Canavan.

I've read all of those, but they weren't really my cup of tea. There's nothing really wrong with those books, but I was expecting one thing (the covers were so badass), and the stories I ended up reading were totally different.SilverDragon wrote: I also have another book to finish in the Magicians Guild series by Trudi Canavan.

Heh, but anyways, I started reading them not knowing what to expect, so I just enjoyed getting to know the characters and so on.

Re: What are you reading RIGHT NOW? (Apart from this post)
The new Monster Musume came out today in Japan, but I think it'll still be a day or two before it gets translated, so to pass the time I've finally started reading the Fullmetal Alchemist manga.
I've only read the first 7 chapters, but I really like it so far. I love the idea of the 'magic' coming at a price. It removes the possibility of cheap deus ex machinas so many other magic-focused stories sometimes rely on.
My fave character is Alphonse. : )

I stumbled across a peculiar, but interesting little webcomic about a lost wombat trying to find her way home. I rather like it so far. :3

Found a very interesting furry webcomic, "Dreamkeepers". Every character (even the background ones) feel and look like full-fledged fursonas.

Since I last posted I have also read a book of Japanese Fairy Tales and a collection of H P Lovecraft's stories. I'm now reading Science: A History by John Gribbin.

Re: What are you reading RIGHT NOW? (Apart from this post)
I recently read The Island Of Doctor Moreau. It was disappointingly short; I finished it in a single day.
Then I watched the 1996 movie, and it is totally different.
Not quite sure what I thought of the book. The protagonist was a bit annoying. He spends most of the book either running around aimlessly or jumping back and forth between hating the beast men and pitying them.
I'm currently on the unabridged 1993 translation of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea(s).

I found a very interesting comic by GeckoZen. It's called "Crossed Claws", and it's about a group of rabbits and one very unlikely friendship. The art style is soft and beautiful, and the characters very intriguing. Definitely worth a read.

I read this web graphic novel a few years back and found it quite good. I thought it would fit in here because the main character is an anthro. A later graphic novel from the same artist/author shows a lot more artistic progression.

Not sure if comics and graphic novels qualify as art, literature, or both (I think it's both), but I just finished reading Blacksad volume 1. Plot is a bit short, but amazing artwork, love it.

It was the best fighter of the war. Too bad it was too little, far too late (and, no, I am not a Nazi sympathizer, I simply really like the Wehrmacht).Sakul Ebbon wrote:"Me.262 Stormbird Ascending"

There's nothing wrong with admiring the battle prowess of a military body and learning from it, regardless of allegiance. Tactics and strategy are universal.MontgomerySeven wrote:It was the best fighter of the war. A machine is a machine... you can't blame it for the views of the people that controlled it
But the me.262 was not a complete waste, it helped greatly in the development of some outstanding cold war era aircraft.
