Eloquent and profuse in English, fluent in Afrikaans, learning japanese from watching too much anime (I'm just about at the stage of building on my vocabulary. other than that I can muddle my way through reading a lot of European languages by looking for similar-looking words to english. I mostly do this with multi-lingual instruction booklets, so I would NOT call myself well-versed...

My home language is English and I can partly speak and understand Afrikaans, though that is very limited. I blame the educational system xD.

I can also read Hebrew, but when you don't practice one's skills do become blunt ^^

I grew up speaking Hungarian because of my parents being Hungarian and all, but I went to an English school, I also prefer the language. I read/write in Afrikaans, although my pronunciations can be a bit shocking at times :3 but i do understand it quite well. Uhm i had to do Tswana from grade 1-7 as well, i think i remember like 2 words though XD i can speak a tiny bit of French as well.
My reading/writing in Hungarian is not that great, but i speak it at home with the parents :p

You shouldn't worry about that Ashley, I would say the majority of this forum can only speak English or Afrikaans. As for me, I only put down English because my Afrikaans hardly qualifies as 'speaking.'

A lot of the 'other' language selections come from people like Zee and Acynnonyx who have different home languages, or Desertyote, who Speaks Spanish, Italian and French (quite exceptional really).

I hope it's not poor taste to revive a thread that has been dead for 5 months... but here goes :D

I'm a native French and English speaker, and I understand Afrikaans well enough to hold a conversation, but I sound like an absolute idiot speaking it. I know bit and pieces of German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and Réunion Creole. I took two years of Latin classes (learned some scraps of Greek in there too, including the alphabet) and I'm currently busy self-learning Russian (Мне хотелось водки, пожалуйста.). I also know about a half-dozen programming languages, do those count?

Okay I admit it, I was wanting to show off a little.
