Vote: Sub-forum re-organisation

#1

Post by Leeward »

This is a proposed new organisation of the categories of sub-forums.
A ">" denotes a category,
a "===" denotes a sub-forum accessible to all members, and
a "+++" denotes a sub-forum accessible only to full-access members.

All the sub-forums that you know and love are still there (with one exception, and its topics will be moved to a more appropriate place), but some have been moved and/or renamed.

If you vote "No", please leave a comment explaining why you disagree and please have an alternative suggestion. Please don't vote "No" just for the sake of it.

I'm guessing Valerion was fine with the changes then. I'm voting no though. I like some of the changes but I don't think spreading the yiffy parts around the forum is a good idea. I think it's nicer conceptually to keep adult material in one place and reduces the likelihood of something being posted inappropriately.

That may be so, but having all the adult material together would make that section rather disjointed, don't you think? Besides it's kind of difficult to accidentally post in the wrong section. Also then the Marketplace section would have only one item, which doesn't make sense. I've thought this through quite a lot.

If you have an alternate approach, please post your views as well. If there's a lot of suggestions, I may create a new list taking most of them into consideration and re-post. If you like someone else's ideas, please make a note of that as well.

I would keep the other changes but move all the yiffy bits into the yiffy section. The General Marketplace can be moved into The World Out There. I dunno why we made a whole new section for it.

To keep similar things together. The Marketplace was added as a response to vendors wanting to advertise in the community, as a professional out-reach. And, as stated in the last poll I ran about this, it was an attempt to break up the monolithic block that is the Yiffy Forum. But the people voting in that poll disagreed, so I stopped that.

I like the idea of more general sub-forums. So I agree with 85% of it.

Specific sub-forums for specific consoles aren't a good idea - and seeing as how we are a small community - different platforms too.

But I agree, move the Yiffy stuff to a separate section in total.

+1 to keeping the Yiffy section separate and changing the rest to the new way

Pretty much agree with everyone above. Change the rest, leave the yiff section on its own.

Considering the number of people who support it, may I suggest that we close this poll and start a new one with three options:

> Changes as in original post
> Changes as above but full-access sub-forums in separate section
> No change

I suggest we leave this open for a while longer first. Some people only come here on occasion.

If they only come on occasionally, then their opinions are nowhere near as important as those of the regulars.

I agree with Leeward, personally.

To be blunt I don't really care where the adult stuff goes because I don't see it. However my compulsion to organise things perfectly [I know it's not OCD] wants me to put them the way they are in the original post because the broader categories fit better, and I don't think a common age rating is grounds enough to segregate them into a yiffy ghetto. But that's just me.

I'm going to be implementing changes now so don't panic if things suddenly disappear or move. It's to be expected.

Okay, changes to the forum are now complete and hopefully it looks better. Not everything is exactly as in the original post.

I've kept the yiffy and non-yiffy parts separate (only relevant to those that have access).
The South Afrifur Pawdcast section has been added since the original post was made.
"Role Plays" and "Games and Silliness" have both been put in "Art and Entertainment" rather than elsewhere.
I also took the opportunity to improve the naming consistency, mostly related to capital letters and such.
With the rearrangement some sections have some changes to their descriptions.

Please keep an eye out for anything that is in the wrong place or where there are old or incorrect descriptions of sub-forums.

Looks great Rakuen, thanks!

If I may make one criticism though, I think Role Plays should be under the Furry Fandom section, because it specifically has to do with that more than entertainment. Possibly the same to Games and Silliness, but that's just me.

Also in the description of Hardware, to be grammatically correct it should be "Things related to those chippy things, motherboards, graphics cards, DVD writers etc go in here."
