Welcome back Sakul, as far as I know no one is pregnant and there are no confirmed fatalities.
Re: Back, Hi, ect
Hey, I was wondering where you'd gone off to. What have you been up to? Not much has changed here, still the same old loony bin.

I'm sure it's because tone and flow of conversations get lost when everything's typed out in a message. I imagine ever one sounds angrier than they are because it's how your mind would imagine someone defensively.Ravensong wrote:not everyone sees things like that...
My friends and I all talk and engage and debate like that so to me it just seems like a conversation with some playful jibes here and there.
I'm imagine if you re-read that, but imagine us all in the same room, having a beer and passing around a bowl of chips, it would be quite different.

I think it might be because nobody responded to his RPG thread asking for side characters. If I remember correctly (I might be wrong here), he once got very pissed because nobody responded to a story (or maybe it was a poem) he posted a long while back. This might be more of the same.

Re: Back, Hi, ect
Maybe nobody felt like they could add anything of value to those threads, so the end result was that they were "ignored" but not out of anyone's malice. I understand how that can be upsetting.

Guess that's why the "like" button is so popular. You get to acknowledge somebody else with very little input from your side, but they still feel good about it.

And that is precisely why I do no like "like" buttons. They don't actually contribute anything, and stifle discussion.

It is actually amazing that Helios' *like* actually killed the conversation for a day. :3 Well done.

Re: Back, Hi, ect
See, that's exactly what I was saying. It completely killed the flow of the discussion.
Re: Back, Hi, ect
I think that was the point. Likes don't add anything of value, but at least they serve as an acknowledgement or nod at the author, and can be used as a collection mechanism. It's like favourites on art pieces or stars on code repositories.

Re: Back, Hi, ect
They do serve as a way of "rating" something, but they are also the lazy alternative to actually contributing.
Re: Back, Hi, ect
On the other paw, the original purpose of the "like" was to encourage more meaningful discussions.
Rather than having a multitude of messages all reading something along the lines of "I like this" diluting the rest of the conversation, you get a aggregated "like" number and a more concentrated conversation below it.

Re: Back, Hi, ect
Ya know what? Its 23:56 now as I start typing. I just had a wonderful 2 hour session of drawing. After more than a month of depression I feel good. And I wanted to come back to some other things. Stand up and do what I want. First here. Then I move on to my relatives and my boss.
The reason I left. The reason I remembered when I came back. Is this: I fucking hate people here, I truly dispise them. I honestly don't want anything to do with them. And instead of doing something proper about it, I just leave. Fuck you.
But there are people here that I like. People I want to be friends with. People I might have snapped at or given the wrong first impression and I want to see about fixing that.
I'm a lil crazy. A few screws loose. And some points afriad of doing anything to enteract with people, and sometimes I get so infuriated I just nuke everything. I need to fix that
