Yes, within the scope of the forum, but I'm not sure I'd be the right person for the position since I've only been a member for about 7 months. Then again we can have more than one rep per region to give people some choice.
Rakuen Growlithe wrote:Or not even every province but to match the areas in the regional section.
That was the idea, since the region parameter on member profiles also matches that division scheme.

I've already been an unofficial representative for a while. I've spoken to quite a few on the newbies on WhatsApp and Skype to date, most notably zangelHusky and LoveHate. My success rate seems to have been low, as they are mostly inactive on the forum these days - that damn WhatsApp group!

Everything we do here is really restricted to the forum except maybe helping organise meets. We don't control the South African furs. While you might only have been a member for 7 months you are also already in the top 10 most active members on the forum.

What about me, I've been here slightly longer, and am just as active...

I don't like the way you're being all sarcastic about it; Severus Montgomery evolves to Corrupted Severus Montgomery.

You may have signed up all of 13 days before me, but I'm the one who suggested we "officialise" the welcome protocol. :P

Hey, a lot happened in those two weeks. Hell, I had already changed my sexual pre-fur-ence from straight to bi before you joined - blame Ryall for that.

I volunteer as Tribu- Representative for the Free State, if there isn't someone for here already.
I check the forum at least every second day, usually once or more a day, although I don't post as often as I could/should.

Sorry that I haven't checked in here often enough. I like the template and will use it as such. Community representatives should at least be 'established' here. So I think it's a good idea overall.

PM me with your call for CR and for which province?

(Essentially, one of the things that I also do is I attempt to either instigate random meetups or attempt to be at the 'formally' announced ones as much as possible.) Ideally attempting to involve furries as best as possible would be amazing.

Activity both on and off the forum is necessary because it would play well into our increased growth. (I will send the PM to Miss Hidden today as I have had little time to do so of late.)

Rakuen: If you are happy with either Sev or Leeward taking the reigns for CT, I think I'll leave the final decision up to you as you may have met them in person?

Here's the current list as I see it.

Cape Town - Western Cape:
Leeward

Jozi - Gauteng:
Ivic-Wulfe

Durbs - KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape:
???

Limpopo and Mpumalanga:
Helios_phi

Northwest and the Northern Cape:
???

Freestate:
Faanvolla

I don't think anyone has volunteered for the Northwest and Northern Cape. There were originally people that were going to be representatives in Port Elizabeth but they're no longer active on the forum.

We're not that big or busy that we need multiple representatives for a single area. You certainly haven't done anything wrong but Leeward volunteered first and has demonstrated her desire to help and improve the forum and fandom.

But that's not fair, I've been at this for ages already; just ask zangelHusky, LoveHate24, and Kikomavu.

And actually, no, I volunteered before she did. Hell having a person to ease someone's transition from wide-eyed newbie to seasoned forumite was *my* idea. Leeward was the one who agreed that it was a good idea.
MontgomerySeven wrote:Maybe we could also have a list of the most active members and their interests? The newbie can then PM the member that he feels that he has most in common with, and then that member can act as a short term guide.
Besides, restructuring the forum and "making the fandom a better place" are entirely separate issues from making newcomers feel at home.

There's no need to have a fit, you can be WC's rep if you want to, Sev. I just said that somebody, not necessarily me, should be. I have privately communicated with new furs too, just BTW, but I don't brag about it. You didn't have the original idea though, seeing as Ivic was at it way before you were.

Yes, but I had this specific idea before you did.

I guess that I've been playing competitively for too long, because, in my mind, you are now like a player from a rival clan.

My point exactly, I'm not trying to compete with you. Who cares who had the idea first, as long as it gets implemented well. That's all I really care about. I just think I'd be a slightly less abrupt rep than you would.

The way that I deal with new people is *dramatically* different from the way that I deal with people that I am established with.

Do you remember the whole LH24 saga, with everyone else commenting on his language? Well, after a while, I was the only person that he was willing to speak with.

In an unrelated story, zangelHusky made a I [paw] furry mosaic, and I was one of the furs pictured on it.

Perhaps you two could share the duty over who is an online representative and who is an offline representative.
Like maybe M7 could be more involved in the meet ups and things that happen IRL.

Just putting it out there as a suggestion maybe

What exactly are you trying to achieve here? I already told you that you could have the position if you want it and think you'd be better at it. I'm not against working together either, but it's up to the admins really.

MontgomerySeven, while I certainly appreciate you spending time with new members and helping them out I do think Leeward would make a better community representative. You certainly don't need any sort of position to talk to other furs and I would like if you continued doing what you have been doing. And it's one thing to say that you deal with new people differently but I can only judge you by what you post here and this display in the last couple of messages does not reflect well.

I guess that that's just the kind of person that I am. I would rather make a stand, even if it means sabotaging myself, than go out being unheard.

If you think that Leeward would make a better CR, that's your prerogative. All that I'm trying to say is that I love this forum to absolute bits, and more activity from more people is almost always a better thing. If I can at least feel that I am contributing in some official fashion, it would be something that I would feel greatly privileged to do.

Ryall doesn't do it officially yet he is much appreciated for it, just sayin'. You're not the only one who loves this forum and wants to see it grow.

It's all right, we all have our moments. I was wondering why this was feeling like bitter rivalry when I wasn't trying to compete against you at all.
